(Español más abajo) Operation Body Count is a turd of a game made by Capstone under the Wolf3D engine back in 1994. A terrorist group has assaulted the UN Building, situation that requires special forces intervention. This playthrough was made under DOSBox in the skill level 3, skill level "R" is randomized and might not be completable at all. I also disabled the floor and ceiling texturing as it completely cripples performance under DOSBox (well, it also did back in the day).
The time has come, I've been eluding this game since '94, but I finally grew balls and tackled it. This game is terrible, unpolished, buggy, and difficult. The very first levels are set in ridiculously labyrinthic sewers fighting rats and swamp monsters, and are upsetting enough to abandon the game right away. Only after then the game improves a bit, but just a bit. You'll experience stuff like being unable to shoot through open doors, enemies that just shoot without even a frame of warning, explosive corpses that kill you if walked over, pickups that don't respect that you are already full, levels with unfixed design flaws... But among all the shit, I must admit that they did try to build cool stuff ON TOP OF THE WOLF3D ENGINE, there are cool bits like: Squad gameplay (you can give them simple orders and swap characters), believable environments, digitized textures and props, destructible windows, destructible map tiles and props with the bazooka, spreading fire... But are completely outshined as you will probably abandon the game before even noticing. Hell, I might as well claim world's highest score just to have someone suffer through this to claim it.

Operation Body Count es un truño de juego hecho por Capstone con el motor del Wolf3D en 1994. Un grupo terrorista ha asaltado el edificio de las Naciones Unidas, situación que necesita la intervención de las fuerzas especiales. Este playthrough ha sido grabado bajo DOSBox en el nivel de dificultad 3, el nivel "R" es aleatorio y podría no ser completable siquiera. También deshabilité las texturas de suelo y techo porque destroza el rendimiento del juego bajo DOSBox (bueno, también lo hacía en su día).
El día ha llegado, llevo evitando este juego desde el 94, pero al final le he echado pelotas y me he lanzado. Este juego es terrible, está sin pulir, bugoso, y difícil. Los primeros niveles son en unas alcantarillas ridículamente laberínticas, luchando contra ratas y monstruos del pantano, y son lo suficiente decepcionantes como para dejar el juego directamente. Después de eso, el juego mejora un poco, pero solo un poquito. Experienciaremos cosas como no poder disparar a través de puertas abiertas, enemigos que disparan directamente sin tan siquiera un frame avisando de que van a hacerlo, cadáveres explosivos que nos matan al pasarles por encima, items que podemos coger aunque vayamos llenos, niveles con fallos que no fueron testados ni arreglados... Pero entre toda la mierda, debo admitir que intentaron hacer cosas guays con EL MOTOR DE WOLF3D, tales como: Gameplay de patrulla (puedes darles órdenes simples y cambiar de miembro y tomar el control de otro), entornos creíbles, texturas y adornos digitalizados, ventanas rompibles, tiles del mapa destruibles con el lanzacohetes, fuego que se propaga... Pero están completamente eclipsadas ya que lo que haría cualquier ser humano con un poco de sentido es abandonar sin llegar a haber apreciado estos detalles. Joer... Es más, podría proclamar este playthrough como la puntuación más alta del mundo conseguida en este juego, solo para que alguien sufra a través de esto para arrebatármela.
